We had a feeling (not to mention a bunch of evidence) that the Kyocera Zio would launch on Cricket as the carriers first Android phone – and we were right. Over at BGR they’ve got a full presentation chock-full of Cricket’s 2010 devices and what is one of the featured phones? None other than the Zio!

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price is listed at $299.99, so you can expect the phone to cost significantly less than that, especially with contracts and rebates. It should launch in July of this year and specs include a 3.5-inch screen, WVGA resolution, Wi-Fi, and 3.2MP camera.
The important thing here, in my mind, is that yet another carrier is giving its customers access to Android. Regardless of Cricket’s relative size measured by subscriber base, there will be a lot of people eagerly chirping about this one. And now I’m wondering if they should launch their own little version of Twitter.
Chirper anyone?

The LG Swift has successfully tiptoed onto the scene – first appearing in a User Agent Profile , then making a quiet appearance at CES 2009 in Las Vegas , and now subtly showing for pre-order at Play.com as the LG Swift GT540 due to be released April 30th. We’re not exactly sure what you’ll get for your £199.99 as the specs sheet seems to be missing some rather crucial information. It’ll run Android, come with a 3MP camera, FM stereo, and all the other stuff you’d imagine your typical Android phone would have

As for the other details you’ll have to stay tuned, but in the meantime check out this LG Swift GT540 video recorded at CTIA.

LG Swift Arriving April 30th
Just as soon as I published an article explaining that the HTC EVO 4G for Sprint won’t be able to handle simultaneous voice and data , readers began commenting and linking to an official update on the issue. Sprint has in fact tweeted clarification , claiming the EVO will do voice & data when on Wi-Fi, not when on 3G, and 4G compatibility is still being tested. That’s DEFINITELY an improvement over the last round of rumors, and the fact that they haven’t shut the door on Voice + 4G data is promising

That’s DEFINITELY an improvement over the last round of rumors, and the fact that they haven’t shut the door on Voice + 4G data is promising. Hopefully their 4G signal will be strong enough and widespread enough so that a simultaneous connection won’t temporarily “pause” and cause the connection to be terminated. But hey – that’s what the whole “TBD” and “testing” thing are for.
[Thanks to all who commented and sent this in!]
