Until the glorious day when my whole desk is an induction charging slab, I’ll take any help I can get in my daily battle with power strips, chargers, cables, and cords.

Hey, remember those amazing Chrome speed tests from a few weeks back? Well, Opera’s not about to be outdone. And they’ve got parody on their side. If only this also came with its own “making of” video. [Opera via Engadget] More »

HTC HD Mini has just landed in the loving hands of the CNET folks, who tested the device and published the following video review. Is this smaller version of HTC HD2 able to succeed in today’s market of big diagonal smartphones? Continue reading after the break to find out!

This shrinked HTC HD2 features a 3.2 inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, 5 touch sensitive buttons (Call, Home, Start, Back and End), while on the side you’ll find a volume rocker and at the top a small power button, used as the lock key. The microUSB port can be found at the bottom.

Inside this smartphone you won’t find Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon chipset that was present on the HD2, as it’s been replaced with a 600MHz CPU, the same one that you can find inside HTC Legend. Also, HD Mini supports WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and GPS, while the features list also includes 512MB ROM and 384MB RAM.

The handset’s microSD card slot supports cards of up to 32GB. A minor drawback of this device is its OS of choice, Windows Mobile 6.5, obviously lacking the option of upgrading to WP7. At least the Sense interface makes the experience more likeable and we see the homescreen being replaced with a finger-friendly UI, supporting flicking between task-based tabs.

Highlights of the phone include the Opera browser, Footprints GPS photo tagging function and HTC’s Peep Twitter client. More info can be found in the video above.

WebOS Interface Specialist, Matias Duarte Joins Android Crew

WebOS handsets aren’t getting the credit and sales they deserve, but webOS is surely a piece of technology worth preserving and hopefully it’ll evolve in the future, under HP’s wing. In the meantime, the guru behind its interface has just fled to the Android boat, maybe lending a hand to the Gingerbread (Android 3.0) creation.

Matias Duarte is now User Experience Director for Android and we have to mention that he previously worked on the Sidekick with Andy Rubin, while they were both part of Danger. Imagine the cool WebOS interface combined with Android, creating something that would make HTC Sense, MOTOBLUR and TouchWiz look outdated.

Freaky? We thought so…

More Than One iPhone 4G Coming in June?

In what seems one of the most unlikely speculations, we’ve just found out via Digitimes and Phone Arena that Steve Jobs might be announcing not one, but two iPhone 4G versions next month. Digitimes analyst Ming-Chi Kuo was the one with the supposition, as he claimed that Apple’s 4G project might include two handsets.

Their codenames appear to the N90 and N91, with the former being the famous model with the flat back side, lost by an Apple employee two months ago. The latter is a “less dressed-up version” of the N90 and it was created to replace the other model, if it gets delayed. N91 might as well replace the 3GS, since it sports 256MB RAM, just like it.

Let’s just hope that Steve Jobs won’t only announce this revamped 3GS and go all out with novelty on June 7th at WWDC…
