Opera has just announced that it’ll release Opera Mobile for Android phones in a month. The announcement was made during the Up North Web event and we learn that the browser will be supported on all Android versions and its main new features will be Hardware Acceleration and Pinch to zoom.

Hardware acceleration allows Opera Mobile to work faster, with enhancements in the UI department as well. This technology takes full advantage of your handset’s hardware also triggering features like full pinch to zoom for any site on the web. Interaction in the browser will also become more fluid.

Right now, the current version of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini only support two levels of zoom, so pinch to zoom is a welcome addition to the browser’s features. You’ll be able to reach a per character level thanks to this type of zooming in. Expect Opera Mobile for Android to hit Android Market and availability from m.opera.com in a month!

Many of us often wear a spooky, goofy or sexy costume for Halloween. That’s great for us, but we are leaving out our poor ol’ iPhone. Well, that changes now. We are going to show you how to get your iPhone into the Halloween spirit with Apps, wallpapers, cases and just about anything else that fits into the spooky category!

Apps

In Case of Monster Break Glass

This App wins in scary if only for the creepy clown in the picture. Seriously, isn’t that the most frightening thing you’ve ever seen? There isn’t much to the App, but it’s free and it may serve as something of a survival guide in cause you run into to any vampires, demons or evil clowns this Halloween. Still, we can’t ignore this App, because that evil clown gives us the chills. We wouldn’t want to anger him or anything.

Ask the Dead

People are often creeped out by the supernatural–thoughts of ghosts or dead people communicating with them. This one can effectively scare a user, but there’s a catch. It is limited to devices with your friends’ contact information. It uses that to spell names, places and numbers. Still, it will make for a great party trick.

Zombie Weatherman

  Zombie

Zombies make everything better. It’s true. If you don’t believe us, just check out the weather forecast, but presented by a zombie. What’s more? If he’s doing a bad job, you can punch him repeatedly, splattering blood all over the screen. It’s a bit bloody for some, but it’s comical and the zombie can’t be killed…er re-killed. He just gets back up and asks for more.

Abandoned

Is trick-or-treating a little too childish for you? Then maybe you would rather explore real locations that are said to be abandoned or haunted. Wannabe ghost hunters traveling light may want to carry along this iPhone App so that they can find some of the creepiest, most rundown places around them. Do keep in mind, however, if there aren’t such places around you, this App may not be for you…unless you don’t mind traveling.

True Ghost Stories From Around The World

We don’t know how authentic these “True” ghost stories actually are, but that doesn’t matter. It’s all in good fun. It may be great for a Halloween party in which everyone shares scary stories, or a night around the campfire.

Ghost Radar

What’s a list of spooky Apps without a ghost radar? These tools turn electromagnetic fields into little dots on the screen. Some may argue that wires and other electrical devices can cause these sorts of signals, and they are probably right. The App does have a feature in which it spits out interesting words. This can add to the overall spookiness of the application when it says something that’s relevant. Either way, it’s just another fun way to enjoy the spooktacular Halloween season.

Ghost Capture

Here’s another one of those essential Halloween Apps. Luckily, you can pick up the free version, which is a bit limited, but costs nothing. It’s one of those novelty Apps that you can use to freak out your friends: take a picture in your home, put a spooky ghost into it and email. Most of them will know it was just created through an application or some sort of photo manipulation software, but it’s still fun to pretend!

Halloween Skin<br>for iPhone 4

Looking for a way to dress up your iPhone this Halloween? Here’s  a skin that will do the job. It’s more on the cutesy side than the spooky side, like something our old elementary school teachers would have used. Still, if you like seasonal iPhone skins, this is definitely a way to go.

Check it out here: $14.99 and for iPhone 4 ($14.99)

Halloween_iPhone_4_Cute_Skull_002

This one is a hard case for the iPhone 4. It has a cute little skeleton thing with a spider and the words “Happy Halloween” overhead. It costs a little more than the skins, but the advantage to a case it that it will be reusable for several Halloweens to come. That is, until the iPhone’s design changes drastically again.

We’ve Saved the Best for Last

George Romero can probably be credited as the father of the modern zombie film. His interpretation of the walking dead: flesh-eating ghouls that stumbled around trying to feed on the living has created what many of us have come to accept as the zombie.

Here’s the Movie that started it all, Night of the Living Dead.
