Apple’s App Store only provided a vague description, a mysterious screenshot, and a 99 cent price tag for an app called Are You Tougher Than Farty Man. Naturally this meant that I had to try it. [iTunesThanks, Zinger314!] More »

Virtual City HD Trailer Features Destruction, Rebuilding and Cheerful Music

The trailer above makes us feel good for some reason. The music is very chipper and the thought of managing our own city is a bit empowering, to be honest.

In the tradition of the Sim games created by Will Wright, Virtual City HD brings players the challenges of building and maintaining a functional city. Luckily, it’s within the confines of the iPad, meaning that if you mess up, no real damage is done. Well, you may have to restart the game at worst, but at least the only people you ever have to worry about angering will be virtual.

The game lands in the App Store on October 14th.

Apple’s New Anti-Sexting Technology [Patents]

Apple is continuing its war on sexxy content on your iPhone! The next victim: Text messages. A patent (filed in 2008) was just approved for “systems, devices, and methods” of filtering “text-based messages” based on “objectionable content.” You know: Sexting. More »

Verizon iPhone Also Confirmed by NY Times; Coming in Early 2011

It’s one thing to hear rumors about the Verizon iPhone on the interwebs and something else to read solid info on Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. The latter enters the stage claiming that after 3 years of AT&T exclusivity, Apple is finally ready to work with Verizon. It seems the Cupertino giant is already making the iPhone 4 version for Verizon.

Apple’s successful handset will begin selling early in 2011, via a carrier that’s already famous for its Android devices. Anonymous inside sources are quoted on this matter, but we tend to trust them, since we’ve known about the possible carrier switch for a while now. The Verizon iPhone 4 comes in a time of slight Android dominance on the US market, while Microsoft announces its first Windows Phone 7 smartphones in the next days.

One reason to go with the Verizon Apple phone is that you’ll get rid of the network issues that AT&T sometime encounters and there have been tons of complains about that. Coverage has been a tough spot specially in New York and San Francisco for the former exclusive Apple partner… Wishful thinking says we’re dreaming about an upgraded iPhone 4 with support for 4G LTE over Verizon’s brand new network. What do you say?
