Audyssey unveils powerful iPod dock

A new entry in the iPhone/iPod speaker/dock combo has dropped from Audyssey.

Audyssey_AudioDock_01

A new entry in the iPhone/iPod speaker/dock combo has dropped from Audyssey. This kind of iDevice accessory is beyond old hat by now, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and all vying for your dollar. What makes a dock stand out these days? Audyssey is betting it is raw power.

New to the product side, this is their first actual release Audyssey, has made their name on the inside, in audio technology. If you own a receiver, there’s a good chance it has Audyssey tech.

Blandly named the Audio Dock, it comes in several editions named after trendy places.

Looking similar to a Bose SoundDock turned on its side, Audyssey’s dock doesn’t look like much. It’s not a small fellow, however, weighing in at 9 pounds.  That heft gives the Audio Dock its power, rated at 200 watts.  B&W’s massive Zeppelin dock has just 100 watts.

The Audyssey is hardly the most powerful iPod accessory out there, but it ’s still pretty impressive for a table to dock.

The Audyssey’s output is quite impressive, this sucker gets loud, and more impressively everything stayed clear at high volumes, with lots of pounding bass. Because, you know whow the neighbors LOVE that.

 is included). One downside:

The Audio Dock offers features like Bluetooth streaming, speakerphone abilities, a USB port for syncing, and a a remote control. Warning: the dock itself can get pretty hot.

The Audyssey Audio Dock will be available in November for a hefty $399.

Tablet of the Day: Disgo’s 7-inch 1GHz Slate

We’re met with another day of the week and no shortage of Android tablets in sight. This one’s from a company called Disgo and doesn’t offer much different from any of their competitors attacking the market in its price range of £180. A resistive WVGA touchscreen, 1GHz prcoessor, 256MB of RAM, 2GB of internal storage, WiFi N, microSD card slots, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and mini USB ports make up the usual bits

It does offer something a bit more extra, however, in micro HDMI-out port. That alone might be worth the price of admission for some of you, but everything else is pretty standard. We’re sure there’s no Android market to be had with this so you’ll have to look to third party marketplaces to get the apps you want on it.

The truth is, we expected this to happen quickly, but Apple TV isn’t even out yet and the hacking community is doing some things. This is thanks to the released firmware that has made it possible for developers to peek into what the box has to offer. Thanks to exploits discovered with the A4 chip and the fact that Apple TV runs on a version of iOS, it’s already a very familiar system to the hacking community.

What we have today is a TUAW reader who goes by Arix was able to get a 3GS to receive AirPlay streaming. Check it out in the video below:

It’s also being reported that the user can restore their Apple TV in iTunes via the Micro-USB port giving users a way to update jb tools through that port.

We are also seeing that it’s possible to run Lowtide on an iPod Touch. This is definitely an indication of future possibilities such as what we talked about yesterday:

Sony Ericsson’s LiveView Accessory Gives You a Quick Look at Your Phone

Accessories for devices these days are usually run-of-the-mill. Aside from a few cool ones from Samsung – such as the keyboard dock for the Galaxy Tab and the USB-HDMI out for their Galaxy S devices – they are always pretty much the same. Accessories for devices these days are usually run-of-the-mill. Aside from a few cool ones from Samsung – such as the keyboard dock for the Galaxy Tab and the USB-HDMI out for their Galaxy S devices – they are always pretty much the same. Sony Ericsson’s come up with a cool one for their Xperia phones, however, called LiveView. This isn’t the official marketing term, but I like to call it a “bundle of joy the size of a pocket watch.” Too corny for you yet? I know, it’s early and I haven’t had my McDonald’s roasted coffee.

Anywho, LiveView is a small LCD screen that – at a glance – shows you a count of notifications on your device from different sources such as email, Twitter, Facebook, calendar reminders, missed calls, and more. It even allows you to control your device’s music. Take a look at the video above to get the full gist of things.

It communicates with your device using Bluetooth and it’s said that the battery will last four days on a full charge – not too bad. They list official support for all of their Xperia devices, of course, but profess that it works with many other brands with Android 2.0+ so a long list of those of us without Sony Ericsson phones don’t get left out. I hope this wasn’t the exciting announcement Ericsson’s CEO was talking about last week. I still want my PSP Phone. Nevertheless, this is still pretty cool. Anyone looking to snatch one up?sony-ericsson-live-view

The HTC ADR6325 (Merge) for Verizon Shows Up in the Wild

A while back, one of our tipsters informed us of an unused model number for an HTC Android-based handset for Verizon Wireless. The model number was spotted on the Droid Incredible’s USB cable that listed other compatible devices. At that time, the only other HTC phone on Verizon was the HTC Droid Eris so we naturally thought “new phone!” We were finally able to confirm it to be a new device when another tipster later sent us an internal shot of the model number in Verizon’s database. That database entry was later updated to include a name – the HTC Merge. We thought it could be another device by HTC for Verizon that’s been making its rounds, but according to BGR’s latest leak, it isn’t.

HTC-Android01

This phone is also equipped with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard (though the backing color is black instead of red) and has a 5-megapixel camera opposed to the 8-megapixel camera on the 4-inch device (which we still have yet to be able to put a name to.) The screen here looks smaller, as well, though I can’t really confirm this myself. We also know that it’ll have world roaming capabilities, something we’ve heard before. Make your way to BGR for the full gallery.

Sony’s SMP-N100, It’s like a Bigger Apple TV

It’s hard to truly see how big this is, but based on that USB port in front we can kind of guesstimate the size, and the Sony SMP-N100 is definitely bigger than Apple’s set-top box.

It does the regular stuff, such as stream video content (Yup, that includes Netflix) and connect to the internet via wifi. You can also watch YouTube and video formats such as DivX and MKV. In addition, this does have a couple of cool sounding features that make it more interesting than some of the competing boxes. It connects to your iTunes library like Apple TV does, and it also has a feature called “Content Noise Reduction” we’re not sure how well that will work, but it’s claimed to improve the quality of streamed content. We’ll have to see about that, at $130, it’s not much more expensive than Apple TV, and has some of the necessary ports for those who have TVs without an HDMI in. The box should be launching in October. We will keep a lookout for a specified release date.

After being spotted online in a bunch of pretty high res live photos, HTC HD7 is once again the talk of the town. The device’s specifications were leaked online in a full list and apparently the unit is coming to T-Mobile, fact confirmed by the support for the carrier’s AWS bands.

This is quite a powerful setup, perfect for running the likes of Windows Phone 7:

Dimension: 122 x 68 x11.2mm
CPU: Qualcomm QSD8250, 1GHz
Memory: 512MB ROM, 8GB internal memory, microSD card slot, 576MB RAM
Display: 4.3 inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen, 480 x 800 pixels
Connectivity: HSPA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS/GSM, HSDPA, A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, USB 2.0
Camera: 5MP, autofocus, 2x LED Flash,
Battery: 1230mAh
Other features: digital compass, motion G sensor, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, kickstand

This certainly looks like a nifty follow-up to the HTC HD2, as some claim this device to be. So, will it be HTC HD3 or HD7 after all?
