Apple recently filed a trademark application for the AirPrint. The Goods and Services relating to the trademark sound just like what we know up to this point:

IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: Computer software; computer software to facilitate printing; printers; computer hardware and peripheral devices

IC 038. US 100 101 104. G & S: Telecommunications services; electronic transmission of data and documents between digital devices and printers; providing wireless telecommunications via electronic communications networks; transmission of data by electronic means

IC 040. US 100 103 106. G & S: Printing; online processing, developing, and delivery of digital images

IC 042. US 100 101. G & S: Application service provider (ASP) services featuring computer software

We are curious to see if Apple will start calling wireless printing across all their machines AirPrint. It woud definitely help pull together that unified environment they are always looking to create.

A Heads-Up to Those Planning on Getting the New Apple TV

The new Apple TV comes comes with only an HDMI port. This is part of how Apple was able to make the unit much smaller.  We at iSmashPhone have been considering the new Apple TV, which looks small and very easy to stow in a bag or suitcase. HDMI-to-Component-Cable

The new Apple TV comes comes with only an HDMI port. This is part of how Apple was able to make the unit much smaller.

We at iSmashPhone have been considering the new Apple TV, which looks small and very easy to stow in a bag or suitcase. Since we travel from time-to-time whether it’s with the family or to press events, we figured it would be a nice way to take some group entertainment.

Unfortunately, there are many hotels or vacation houses don’t have HDMI ports. We decided to look around for a way to carry around an Apple TV and still be able to connect it to most televisions. Well, some online retailers are selling direct HDMI to component cables.

Turns out that it doesn’t work.

Those who want to know how to convert an HDMI video signal to a component cable will have to look for a converter box, which usually sets users back somewhere in the realm of $150. Though it’s probably best to shop around a bit.

If you need more proof that such a cable doesn’t work, have a look at this Amazon link. Several users who bought a similar cables are expressing EXTREME dissatisfaction.

The lesson here is just watch where you shop, and don’t always be in a hurry to purchase something because the price is enticing. Oh, and read customer reviews, most of them are just people like the rest of us who needed a way to connect a device to their TV.

Samsung Epic 4G Gets Root

Posted on 30th August 2010 by admin in , android, phone, samsung, us | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Yes, folks: it’s still ridiculously easy to root Samsung Galaxy S phones, and the Samsung Epic 4G for Sprint is no exception to that rule. The device isn’t set to release until tomorrow, but it’s already been rooted by one developer that was able to get it into his hands early (it was actually discovered this past Saturday, to get an idea of the sizable gap). The process seems to be just as Simple as it is for the Captivate, the Vibrant, and the regular ol’ Galaxy S so be sure to make your way to SDX now for the downloads and instructions.
