TweetDeck likes collecting data. Most companies do, in fact. Not all of them like to share their data, though, but TweetDeck’s just vomited a nice helping of data regarding usage of the Android version of their Twitter client which is still in beta. I’m going to skip all of the boring stuff regarding device and version distribution, but there are a few fun takeaways to be had.

First of all: the HTC Glacier is still out there. At least three people have been using TweetDeck on the device. I’m sure this will make some of our readers (coughKELLERcough) happy, but we still have no idea about the status of this device. All we know is that it’s likely headed to T-Mobile and will be a high-end monster of a cellphone.

The Motorola Droid 2 Global Edition is also still making its rounds. We used to be keen on calling this device the Motorola Droid Pro, but we already know what happened with that. Here are the rest of the obscure pieces of data gathered from their latest report:

  • Android Gingerbread is real, and there’s a substantial amount of people already testing it in the field
  • We’ve all seen YouTube videos with Nokia N900 and HTC HD2 running Android. Now we have proof. 103 Tweedeck Android users had HD2’s, and 6 of them had Nokia N900. There was also one HTC Kaiser user spotted out there, too. What do you know – there still are some people running Android on the good old HTC TyTN II…
  • The rumored uber fast HTC Glacier is also out there in the field, probably undergoing some tests. 3 Tweetdeck users were caught with it
  • While Motorola Droid 2 Global Edition missed the CTIA announcement date, it seems that it is still out there somewhere, and may be announced soon.

Everything else they’ve found can be had at their website.

HP Photosmart eStation C510 Printer/Tablet Bundle on Sale Now for $399.99

The unusual combo of printer/Android tablet in the HP Photosmart eStation C510 might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’ve been needing a new printer and wouldn’t mind having a companion tablet powered by Android then you can order it starting today at HP’s website and participating resellers. We honestly wouldn’t recommend getting this for the tablet alone – especially considering the price – but it’s a free country. Just don’t come back angry when you find out that the tablet isn’t what you expected it to be. [via Engadget ]

mTrip – the popular travel guide app for iOS devices – is finally about to make its way to the Android market and they’re looking for users to help test the device. This beta isn’t as simple as downloading a .apk file. You’ll need to live in one of the following cities to participate:

Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Munich, London, Madrid, Moscow, Paris, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Istanbul, Dublin, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Washington

If you’re interested, be sure to shoot them an email (android [at] mtrip [dot] com) and let them know your contact details, your device, the version of Android it’s running, and which of the above cities they live in. Unfortunately we can’t even test this for ourselves, but if you are fortunate enough to live in one of these cities be sure to give it a spin and let us know how you like it (if you’re chosen.)

Nokia’s Problems Just Got Even Bigger [Doom]

Posted on 12th October 2010 by admin in , hd, nokia, pixel, research, us | Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Indian newspaper The Economic Times is reporting that Nokia’s market share is in free fall in India. According to research firm IDC, they have lost almost 20%. This is very bad news for Nokia, who is disputing IDC’s data.

Dell Venue Pro is THE Windows Phone 7 Handset, Ex Lightning Model

Remember Dell Lightning? Well, the handset’s back and got turned into Dell Venue Pro, the most promising Windows Phone 7 smartphone unveiled today. Although we only managed to get hold of a partial specs list, we saw Engadget’s fun time with the device and it certainly is a great piece of work. The format is a tad unusual though: portrait slider with a huge touchscreen.

Dell Venue Pro packs a 4.1 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, based on Gorilla Glass technology and supporting multitouch. Design-wise, the handset reminds us of the Dell Thunder, an Android-based model. Engadget mentions that Venue Pro comes with rounded chrome sides and a grippy feel, plus a responsive touch-sensitive buttons.

You also get a 5MP camera with flash, a great slide out QWERTY keyboard, that’s a bit similar to the one on Droid 2 (as far as buttons are concerned) and a Snapdragon CPU. This baby will be coming to T-Mobile in time for the holidays and also through Dell’s retailing partners. Apparently, the phone won’t reach AT&T, since T-Mobile is the exclusive partner for the WP7 handset.

Nokia N8 TV Commercials Go Loose (Video)

Posted on 10th October 2010 by admin in , feature, hp, nokia, phone, video | Tags: , , , , , , , ,

A series of Nokia N8 TV ads have recently popped up online, showing the features of Nokia’s very first 12MP cameraphone and also the first phone to run Symbian^3. These commercials make the device look more appealing than it really is, but that’s the point of marketing after all, right?

Last we heard, the handset was already available on pre-order in the UK, with the first shipments coming on October 15. Also, the N8 will reach the stores on 22 October, at least in Great Britain. You can still pre-order a unit from the official Nokia UK online store, available with a 2 year Vodafone, T-Mobile or O2 contract (30 pounds per month).

The unlocked version goes for 429 pounds. Back to the ads, they’re pretty cool, but that “What will you do with it?” sentence is annoying.
