rogers-wireless1It looks like Mr. Rogers doesn’t want Verizon to be the only kid in the neighborhood touting their LTE 4G progress today. In a press release, the Canadian carrier announced a comprehensive LTE trial alongside Ericsson in hopes of unlocking, “lightning-fast HD video streaming, gaming, communications, transactions and other connected experiences through mobile Internet.”

The testing will take place in Ottawa utilizing recently acquired AWS spectrum. Keep in mind this is LAB testing so there really isn’t any idea when Rogers customers will, or even if they will, enjoy 4G LTE. The company has been leading the way in terms of Canadian data network speeds, being first to light up HSPA+ in North America last year so lets hope their pioneering ways continue.

Feel free to check out the press release and the company blog post for more info.

Something just came out of the wire via Mobile Syrup regarding availability of the HTC Desire Z in maple country. We knew the device would be headed to North America, but let’s not forget that Canada is one out of the many countries that make up North America. Earlier evidence saw the device’s leather case accessory popping up in Best Buy Canada’s inventory

Today, their tipsters are saying they have it on good authority that Bell will be offering the HTC Desire Z exclusively. It’d be a huge deal for them as many won’t want to pass up on this nice QWERTY-enabled package. Specs include an 800MHz Qualcomm 7230 processor, a 3.7-inch touchscreen, Android 2.2 with Sense, a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, and the ability to record 720p HD video. We hope to learn more soon.

Will it mirror the huge success that was the Motorola BackFlip, a device it seems poised to take the place of in AT&T’s lineup?  Oh, the BackFlip wasn’t a huge success? Well I’m guessing it will be at least feature the same restrictions that AT&T seems to slap on all of their Android handsets. Expect it to be pretty cheap and available in multiple colors.

HTC Desire HD Shows Up in FCC Filing Lacking American 3G

Posted on 17th September 2010 by admin in , android, car, fm, hd, radio | Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

The HTC Desire HD has made its way on to the FCC after it was unveiled in London earlier this week, and much to the collective disappointment of American Android fans, 3G radio bands matching those for North American carriers are no where to be found.  The filing matches up with the PDP98100 model number found on the Desire HD, so little doubt remains that a release States-side isn’t in HTC’s immediate future plans. How does it feel now that the shoe is on the other foot

How does it feel now that the shoe is on the other foot? Yeah, America already has the EVO but that Desire HD sure is looking mighty sexy right about now…

MSI’s historically been known more for their motherboards and the occasional hyperefficient netbook . But by bringing North America its first 3D Multitouch AIO PC in the AE2420 3D, the company’s clearly making a statement. And it’s a welcome one.
